Conference Theme: Charting a Path to a Humane and Sustainable Future: Asia's Leadership Role

Hosted by: Residential College 4 | Supported by: System Dynamics Society

Overview

The program committee seeks to popularize and extend systems thinking and System Dynamics modelling in the Asia-Pacific Region by facilitating interactions between practitioners from the region and around the world, introducing newcomers to the field, and keeping practitioners aware of current developments. The conference will emphasize the public policy issues relating to sustainability, resilience, and human wellbeing of particular relevance to the region. Because of the Residential College 4's sponsorship role, emphasis will also be given to the effective teaching of systems thinking and System Dynamics modelling as a part of general education curricula for upper level secondary school and for first- and second-year undergraduate students.

Program

The conference program will consist of invited and contributed sessions, student presentations, chapter meetings, and workshops demonstrating the state of the art in the theory and application of System Dynamics. We welcome all research and documented consulting activities using System Dynamics, including applications of the methodology to solve real world problems, new technical and software developments, and productive integration of complementary methodologies in order to create new solutions.

Student Research Colloquium

The Student Research Colloquium is a half-day event devoted to students working on foundations, techniques, tools, and applications of the System Dynamics approach that includes oral and poster presentations. The main objective of the colloquium is to create an environment where the students can benefit from experience, discussion, and feedback provided by senior modellers, researchers, practitioners, and other students in the field. The colloquium will take place on February 19, the Sunday preceding the conference.
We warmly invite undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students to share their knowledge by attending the colloquium or by submitting their outstanding work. You will receive valuable feedback from experienced researchers and from fellow students. Workshop Proposals

We welcome proposals from individuals, institutions, and software vendors to offer workshops at the 2nd Asia-Pacific Region System Dynamics Conference. Software vendors are encouraged to propose workshops that will introduce conference attendees to the mechanics of their software and that will provide an opportunity for attendees to get hands-on experience with a demo version of their software. Introductory software workshops have received great reviews from attendees of prior International System Dynamics Conferences and we believe such workshops will prove to be extremely beneficial at this conference as well. Individuals and institutions who are interested in conducting workshops on specific topics—including real-world-application of System Dynamics, and innovative approaches to teaching System dynamics—are also welcome. Proposals to offer one or more workshops should include title, workshop description, and names of the facilitators that will deliver the workshop. If you have any enquiries,
